The Winnipeg Art Gallery celebrated Canada 150 with ART EXPRESS’D, a coast-to-coast-to-coast adventure. Three 20-foot shipping containers transformed into mobile art studios traversed every province and territory.
Contemporary artists Jessie Buchanan, Evin Collis, and Becky Thiessen each lead a collaborative art-making project on their journey towards the country’s heart, Winnipeg. The WAG partnered with Parks Canada to present activities in Winnipeg and Churchill, Manitoba.

Jessie Buchanan’s vision for ART EXPRESS’D is called Voices of the Landscape. Working with Jessie, you will create acrylic paintings reflecting how you understand yourself as a Canadian, and your connection with the land and environment.
