The Forks National Historic Site

The Forks National Historic Site offers many modern amenities in a beautiful natural setting in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.

Accessible facilities

The Forks National Historic Site is fully accessible to persons with physical or mobility disabilities: access to the riverwalk is by ramp and all paths are graded for a worry-free visit.

Bank/ATM

ATMs are located at the Johnston Terminal and in The Forks Market.

Food services

The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal offer an array of food services, from groceries and food courts to elegant dining.

Information

Information about The Forks National Historic Site, as well as other National Parks and National Historic Sites across Canada, is available at the Parks Canada Information Desk in the Travel Manitoba Information Centre, located in the Johnston Terminal at The Forks. The Parks Canada Information Desk is open from May to October.

Notices about special events and interpretive experiences are also posted on The Forks bulletin board, located at the Orientation Circle.

Parking

There are several parking lots at The Forks, all of which are operated by The Forks North Portage Corporation. Please be sure to note how long you are permitted to park since the lots are regularly checked by a parking patrol.

Bus parking is subject to availability and is managed by the The Forks North Portage Corporation. Please contact them directly to make your arrangements.

Picnic area

Enjoy a picnic in the green spaces of The Forks National Historic Site. Picnic tables are conveniently located in the north field, centre field and near Fort Parka.

Playground

Ideal for kids two to 12, Fort Parka is an experiential park for children of all abilities. It has seven adventure zones, including a water feature.

Public telephones

Telephones are located at the Orientation Circle, The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal.

Restrooms

There are public washrooms on site in the Orientation Circle (open seasonally) as well as in The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal.
