What is a Parks Canada management plan?
A management plan, prepared in consultation with Canadians, is the main public accountability document for national historic sites. It is the road map that guides Parks Canada’s work to protect natural and cultural resources, to facilitate visitor experiences and learning opportunities, and to collaborate with Indigenous partners and other organisations on common interests. The plan sets out a long-term vision for a site, as well as strategic direction to guide decision-making by site managers. Management plans also help Parks Canada make sound decisions about where to invest financial and human resources.
Management Plan preparation and implementation is a continuous cycle of consultation, decision-making, evaluating and reporting. Parks Canada will continue to consult with Indigenous partners, stakeholders, and the public throughout the implementation of the plan.
