Water and Ice Showcase

Water and Ice is a showcase of seasonal wonders on Cave and Basin’s historic pool deck. Kick off winter fun with our hands-free curling rink activity. Check out the new immersive HD video of the historic Cave, then cozy up to a crackling campfire to enjoy a presentation from our interpreters. Steamy tales of hot springs, history, and endangered snails are part of the winter experience. Come chill with us by the thermal waters and find out what makes Cave and Basin a magical, welcoming place.

Cave and Basics Tour

Looking for a quick introduction to all the highlights Cave and Basin has to offer? Join us for this accessible 30-minute indoor/outdoor tour of the 1914 Bathing Pavilion and its many hidden wonders—from Indigenous significance and historic architecture, to a mysterious cave and the birth of Parks Canada administered places, to the tiny and endangered Banff Springs Snail.

Discovery Tour

Experience history and nature just minutes from Banff Avenue. On this 45-minute stroll along lush marsh boardwalks, you will meet colourful characters from Banff’s past and learn why the Cave and Basin is the birthplace of Parks Canada administered places. Open your senses to jaw-dropping views and bubbling hot springs that have inspired people to visit this special place for millennia. The unique Cave and Basin landscape has been shaped by three things: hot water, biology and people. Explore the biodiversity of the wetland area surrounding the Cave and Basin, where snakes, fish, birds, bears, microbes, snails, flowers and humans all share a connection with the thermal waters.
