Whale watching safety

Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park

Captains and sea excursion guides definitely know the marine environment. They will be able to tell you what they know and answer your questions.

Sometimes, a whale may emerge unexpectedly near an excursion vessel. Your captain will know how to react in these circumstances. During a sea kayak excursion, your guide will help you to keep your distance and travel safely.

Even in the middle of summer, it can be colder at sea than on land. We recommend that you wear warm and comfortable clothing. We also recommend that you avoid wearing cotton clothing. For more information on this activity in the Marine Park, see this page: Whale-watching and cruises.

For good navigation practices in the presence of marine fauna, see the following section: Wildlife safety.
