Pointe-Noire is located where the St. Lawrence Estuary and the Saguenay Fjord meet. The site is characterized by oceanic phenomena influenced by the rhythm of the tides.
Pointe-Noire offers an exceptional panorama for observing the birds and marine mammals that frequent the Saguenay–St Lawrence Marine Park. A stroll along the panoramic trail and a stop at the lookout equipped with telescopes will enable you to admire this magnificent landscape and to identify the animals. Alignment beacons on the site still stand guard at the mouth of the Saguenay. The fog horn building and the houses of the light keeper and his assistant are standing. Still today, Pointe-Noire plays an important role in navigation.
