GENERAL CONDITIONS

Winter conditions on all trails. Icy sections are present on some of the more popular trails. Good footwear, hiking poles and ice cleats are recommended. Use caution!

For maps and information on winter trails, contact the Lake Louise Visitor Centre (403) 522-1264. The Kootenay Visitor Centre is closed until April 1st, 2019.

SAFETY WARNINGS

It`s avalanche season! Check the Avalanche Bulletin and be sure to have the skills and gear for avalanche travel before entering into avalanche terrain.

Stanley Glacier Winter conditions Avalanche risk: Complex Class 3 - top half of trail crosses numerous avalanche paths. Lower section safe to 2.4 km. Stop at bridge over Stanley Creek.

Paint Pots to Marble Canyon Winter conditions Avalanche risk: Simple Class 1 - At about 1.7 km, trail crosses short 30 m wide runout zone of avalanche path.
Tokumm Creek / Prospector's Valley Winter conditions Avalanche risk: Complex Class 3 - top 2/3 of trail is very avalanche prone. No avalanche risk first 3.2 km. Stop before first large slide path.
