Trail Condition Report

Jasper National Park of Canada

Updated: October-15-18

AVALANCHE CONDITIONS AT HIGH ELEVATION:
Winter is here.  The alpine snowpack is deep and avalanche hazard exists. Expect fresh slab avalanches following storms and avoid steep, sun exposed slopes. Carry your avalanche gear, make good, informed decisions and follow safe guidelines. [Mountain Safety]

IT’S ELK RUTTING SEASON; BULL ELK ARE DANGEROUS:
Keep at least 30 m away, never get between the male and the females and keep your dog on a leash. Report all elk encounters to Parks Canada staff (780) 852-6155.

TRAVELLING IN BEAR COUNTRY:
Be aware. Bears are out and about. Use standard bear precautions: be alert, travel in groups, make noise, carry bear spray and know how to use it. Keep pets on a leash at all times. Report bear sightings and encounters to Parks Canada staff (780) 852-6155.

FOREST FUEL REDUCTION - PYRAMID BENCH:
Active Trail Closures: 8, 8c, 8d, 8e, 8f
