Clergyman, surgeon, and poet, he participated in the negotiations between Benedict Arnold and John André during the American Revolution. After moving to New Brunswick, 1784, he served on the Executive Council 1784-1818, and was Provincial Secretary 1784-1812. Born in Newark, N.J., 1737. Died Fredericton, N.B., 1818.
