A leader in the women's, peace and cooperative movements, Violet McNaughton fought for social reforms that inspired many Canadians. Drawing on her experience as a farm wife, she organized the Women Grain Growers and contributed to the development of the Wheat Pool as a cooperative marketing agency. McNaughton also led the fight for women's enfranchisement and for publicly funded medical care programs in Saskatchewan. From 1926 to 1960, she promoted her vision of agrarian feminism, pacifism and the cooperative movement as a journalist with The Western Producer.
