Born in Banffshire, Scotland, Davidson was the first English-speaking settler in Miramichi. As a pioneer in the fishing, masting, lumbering and ship-building industries, and in foreign trade from this region, he exemplifies the best tradition of the early developers of the New Brunswick economy. He died in Miramichi.
