Feature Exhibit "Solidarity on Ships and Shore: Organizing the West Coast Fishing Industry"

Opening on May 1, the Cannery's 2014 feature exhibit will examine the fascinating history of the men and women of the West Coast fishing industry, who fought to better the lives of the fisheries workers in the 1800s to early 1900s, and their lasting legacy today. The exhibit will illustrate their story through music, art and archival images, all in our historic Cannery setting.

Best Catch Sustainable Seafood Festival

The third annual edition of the Best Catch Sustainable Seafood will be held at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site on September 14 (Saturday) from 11am to 4pm. The festival will help you to discover which seafood choices are best for the planet, while cooking demonstrations by famous local chefs such as Robert Clark (The Fish Counter) and Chris Whittaker (Forage) which show you which are most delicious! The cooking demonstrations will take place at the top of each hour, and there will be a variety of musical acts performing on the half hour.  After visiting “Best Catch” stroll down to the public wharf and pick up some fresh seafood and try one of the demonstration recipes when you get home.

Kids won't be left out of the fun, there will be carnival games and children's crafts and admission to the Cannery will be Free.  For more details visit

Santa at the Cannery

The holiday spirit comes to Steveston with the arrival of Santa by boat! After his arrival, Santa will make his way to the Cannery to take photos with the kids.
