Big celebrations in the community of Témiscamingue this summer!
In addition to celebrating the 100th anniversary of Parks Canada in 2011, the Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site of Canada will commemorate the 325th anniversary of the spectacular expedition of Pierre Chevalier de Troyes, which passed through the area en route to James Bay and Hudson Bay. To celebrate the occasion, the Témiscamingue community will, once again, demonstrate its attachment to its history, the area and the Fort Témiscamingue site. After making a key contribution in terms of people participation and funding about 15 years ago, the community is getting involved again by helping to organize the 325th anniversary festivities for this famous expedition. A colourful summer program, to be held in and around the Fort enclosure, has been drawn up by an innovative and energetic volunteer committee. The high point will be New France Week from July 16 to 24. So come and celebrate with us. It is worth a side trip!
