This course provides an introduction to heritage obligations under the Treasury Board Policy on Management of Real Property and the processes administered by the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office (FHBRO). Topics that are covered include the heritage evaluation process, the Heritage Character Statement and the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, the review of intervention process and the disposal process for federal heritage buildings. Sources of technical advice will also be discussed.

The course is intended for anyone who is involved with the care and management of federal heritage buildings, including project managers, facilities managers and maintenance staff. Professionals and practitioners working on projects related to federal heritage buildings are also welcome to register for this course.
