Parks Canada has embarked on a feasibility study to determine the potential for establishing a national marine conservation area (NMCA) reserve in the southern Strait of Georgia. Since the last newsletter (Spring, 2006), we have hosted open houses and workshops, attended meetings and local community events. Work is continuing on research and reports that will help us better understand the study area and the potential benefits and challenges of establishing an NMCA reserve in this area. Besides featuring artwork from the 2006 Marine Poster Contest, this newsletter highlights the work we have been doing since the last newsletter, the projects we are currently working on and ways in which you can stay involved.
