Generally hiking is best between June 15 and September 15. However, if you are prepared for colder weather it is possible to hike as late as the end of October to experience the autumn alpine, and as early as mid-May, when the wildflowers begin to bloom.

Registration for overnight trips into the park is mandatory. Between April 1 and November 15 you must purchase a Backcountry Permit and bear resistant food canisters are mandatory. From Victoria Day long weekend through Labour Day you can purchase permits, register and obtain food canisters at the Da Kų Cultural Centre or at the Tachäl Dhäl (Sheep Mountain) Visitor Centre.
