Down By the Creek: An Investigation of a Prairie Water Ecosystem (East Block)

Investigate a riparian zone, a very valuable part of a grassland ecosystem. Discover how water is key to life and an integral part of the ecosystem, however small or insignificant it may appear.

Once Upon a time ... 65.5 million years ago (East Block)

From the Bear Paw Sea to hoo doos, who knew? Explore the badlands discovering the secrets hidden in these fossil rich buttes. The fossils tell the tale.

Curriculum Focus:

  • Social Studies 2, 9

The Prairie Web of Life (West Block)

Sneak up on a prairie dog colony and hike the slopes of a prairie coulee. Students will observe prairie plants and animals and learn how they have adapted to their habitats. Learn how all prairie species are interconnected and why many prairie animals are becoming “Endangered.”

Bison Boot Camp (West Block)

March to the command of the Queen of the Herd Bison Sergeant, roam into the world of bison and ruminate about intricate connections to First Nations and the health of our grasslands.
