The PEI National Park Species at Risk Art Contest
Contest entry deadline extended to May 17th!
The PEI National Park Species at Risk Art Contest engages youth in the science, protection and stewardship of Species at Risk in Prince Edward Island National Park through the practice of art.
Open to: All youth in grades 4 to 6 or, youth aged 9-12 in organized youth groups or individuals
Theme: Species at Risk in PEI National Park
How to Enter
All entries must be original, on 11"x 17" paper, flat, and signed. Work may be created using pencil, pen, markers, pastels, crayon, watercolor, paint, or flat collage. Original poetry may be included in the artwork; a stewardship message may be written on art. Each child may submit one work of art. The child’s name, mailing address and phone number must be clearly printed on the back of the artwork, along with name of the chosen category theme. If entering through a school class, include the school name and grade, phone number, and teacher's name. If entering as part of an organized youth group, include the name of the group, contact information and the leader’s name.
Entries must be received by 4:00 p.m., May 17, 2013

The 3 individual winners will receive a family day pass to PEI National Park and a special invitation to the interpretive program of their choice. In addition to these prizes, the individual grand prize winner will receive a pair of binoculars and a free weekend of camping.
Class or Group Prize
The grand prize winning class or organized youth group (E.G. Girl Guide or Scout Unit) will receive a special drawing class with Maurice Bernard, along with the materials to produce charcoal drawings of PEI National Park. Note: A French speaking artist can be engaged upon request.
Judging Criteria & Selection of Winners
Works of art will be selected by a panel of judges who will evaluate works on artistic merit, content (including relevance to chosen theme), and originality. Winners will be notified by mail or phone; prize tickets will be mailed to each winning individual or group.
Additional Information & Display of Winners' Art
All works of art submitted shall become the property of Prince Edward Island National Park (Parks Canada.) No works will be returned. Winning art may be displayed at events and locations throughout PEI National Park, and/or other venues. The winning art will be featured on the Prince Edward Island National Park website and Facebook page
, and displayed in a prominent location.
