Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

Date: May 19, 2014
Location: Cavendish Grove

Join law enforcement officers from across Prince Edward Island for this fun-run that raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics. Parks and People Association’s World Oceans Day Beach Clean Up

Date: June 14, 2014, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
Location: PEI National Park, Brackley Beach

Think globally and act locally! Join The Parks and People Association to celebrate World Oceans Day by helping to clean up the beaches in Prince Edward Island National Park. You’ll be taking part in a global effort help keep the oceans clean, right in your own backyard! Everyone is invited to lend a hand.

Celebrate Canada’s birthday with free entry at Parks Canada sites! You can also catch games, races and cake at Green Gables Heritage Place.


The Great Island Sandcastle Competition (Parks Day)

Date: July 19, 2014
Location: Brackley Beach

Pack up your beach gear and join us at Brackley for the most fun you can have with a pail and shovel! Individuals, teams and families are invited to let their creative sides show build sensational sculptures in the sand. Renowned sandcastle artist Maurice Bernard will be on hand to offer up a few of his best tricks of the trade and help crown the champion for 2014. Enjoy this family-oriented sandcastle building contest in celebration of Parks Day! Prizes for best entries.

St. Peters Wild Blueberry Festival and Homecoming

Date: July 28-August 3, 2014
Location: Greenwich & St. Peters Bay

Parks Canada is proud to be part of the St. Peters Wild Blueberry Festival and Homecoming again this year. Take part in special programming happening at Greenwich throughout the week.


BioBlitz

Date: August 12, 2014
Location: Cavendish Beach Complex

Young and young at heart will enjoy the Prince Edward Island National Park BioBlitz, where they will join park biologists and interpreters to make their own natural discoveries using monitoring and interactive techniques. The BioBlitz is a great opportunity to discover or rediscover the natural world and learn about which species call the ponds, forests and shores of the island home. Through a variety of fun and family-friendly activities, visitors will explore the four ecosystems in the park: the pond, the forest, the beach and the salt marsh.

Gran Fondo Prince Edward Island

Date: August 23, 2014
Location: PEI National Park

Gran Fondo PEI will take riders on three days of riding experiences. Created by Cycling PEI, this unique gran fondo takes participants through PEI National Park for spectacular views of sand dunes, barrier islands and sandspits, beaches, sandstone cliffs, wetlands and forests. Prince Edward Island Marathon

Date: October 19, 2014
Location: Brackley to Dalvay

Challenge yourself in the Prince Edward Island Marathon. The start line at Brackley Beach launches you into 12 kilometres of beautiful seaside landscapes. After winding past dunes, the Covehead Lighthouse and Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site you’ll find yourself along the Confederation Trail, heading for Charlottetown and the finish line at Province House National Historic Site. Come Fly a Kite!

Date: June 29, 2014
Location: Port-la-Joye—Fort Amherst National Historic Site

“Come Fly a Kite!” in a beautiful, scenic and culturally-rich green space. A kick-off to Canada Day, there will be cake, prizes and much more! Parks and People, Parks Canada's cooperating association on PEI organizes this annual kite-flying extravaganza at Port-la-Joye—Fort Amherst National Historic Site, in Rocky Point. Enjoy a day of soft activity for the whole family overlooking scenic Charlottetown Harbour. Come back on Canada Day, when the site becomes an ideal viewing point for Charlottetown’s fireworks display – one of the largest in Eastern Canada.

Acadian National Feast Day

Date: August 10, 2014
Location: Port-la-Joye—Fort Amherst National Historic Site

This cultural celebration, featuring the richness of the Acadian culture as well as the historic ties between the Acadian and Mi’kmaq peoples presented in music, interpretation, and sacred ceremonies, is a free public event. Pack a picnic lunch and stay for the day! Acadian National Fest Day events are held on August 15 at various locations across the Island; see
