Parks and People Association’s World Oceans Day Beach Clean Up
Date: June 20, 2015, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: PEI National Park, Dalvay Beach parking area
Think globally and act locally! Join The Parks and People Association to celebrate World Oceans Day by helping to clean up the beaches in Prince Edward Island National Park. You’ll be taking part in a global effort help keep the oceans clean, right in your own backyard! Everyone is invited to lend a hand.

The Great Island Sandcastle Competition (Parks Day)

Location: Brackley Beach
Pack up your beach gear and join us at Brackley for the most fun you can have with a pail and shovel! Individuals, teams and families are invited to let their creative sides show build sensational sculptures in the sand. Renowned sandcastle artist Maurice Bernard will be on hand to offer up a few of his best tricks of the trade and help crown the champion for 2015. Enjoy this family-oriented sandcastle building contest in celebration of Parks Day! Prizes for best entries.

Young and young at heart will enjoy the Prince Edward Island National Park BioBlitz, where they will join park biologists and interpreters to make their own natural discoveries using monitoring and interactive techniques. The BioBlitz is a great opportunity to discover or rediscover the natural world and learn about which species call the ponds, forests and shores of the island home. Through a variety of fun and family-friendly activities, visitors will explore the four ecosystems in the park: the pond, the forest, the beach and the salt marsh.
Prince Edward Island Marathon

Location: Brackley to Dalvay
Challenge yourself in the Prince Edward Island Marathon. The start line at Brackley Beach launches you into 12 kilometres of beautiful seaside landscapes. After winding past dunes, the Covehead Lighthouse and Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site you’ll find yourself along the Confederation Trail, heading for Charlottetown and the finish line at Province House National Historic Site. Acadian National Feast Day
Date: August 16, 2015
Location: Port-la-Joye—Fort Amherst National Historic Site
This cultural celebration, featuring the richness of the Acadian culture as well as the historic ties between the Acadian and Mi’kmaq peoples presented in music, interpretation, and sacred ceremonies, is a free public event. Pack a picnic lunch and stay for the day!
Gold Cup and Saucer Parade

Watch for Parka and the rest of the gang from Prince Edward Island National Park on the Parks Canada float in Charlottetown’s Gold Cup and Saucer parade, Atlantic Canada’s largest parade, part of PEI’s Old Home Week celebrations.
