Heron, Tricolored (Provincial Rarety)
-Egretta tricolor (Müller)
Adults: upper parts mainly dark blue. Nape and hind-neck feathers longer with a purplish sheen (in breeding plumage with a white occipital crest). Throat whitish, more or less tinged with chestnut, this continuing in a narrow line down front of neck. Lower back and rump whitish, but in the breeding season this is obscured by a brownish-grey plumes, which reach to or beyond the tail. Neck and breast bluish-slate, on the breast mixed with pruplish feathers. Abdomen and under wing coverts white.
