Adults: Upper parts yellowish brown with irregular spots, bars, streaks and freckles of darker browns and buffs. Yellowish streak over eye. Throat whitish with a brown stripe downs its centre. Black streak donw sides of neck. Breast, sides and abdomen yellowish white broadly streaked with brown. Primaries brownish slate. Bill yellowish with blackish ridge. Legs and feet greenish yellow. Immatures: Similiar to adults but without black stripe on sides of neck and more lightly marked generally.
