Adult male: Mainly black; a white spot extending backward and upward below the eye; and a wing patch formed by the white of the secondaries. Eye pale grey or whitish. Bill with black swollen base, red or purplish sides becoming orange near base, ridge white, edges black, nail reddish. Legs purplish pink on outer sides, tending to orange on inner sides.
