-Anas crecca Linnaeus
Our smallest duck. Size distinguishes it from all other ducks of regular occurrence in Canada except the Blue-winged and Cinnamon teals, the Bufflehead, and the Ruddy Duck. The bright-green speculum separates it from the latter two, and a complete absence of blue on the fore-wing from the first two.
