-Anas rubripes Brewster
Adult: crown, nape and line through eye, dark brown. Rest of head brownish grey, finely streaked with dusky hue, the chin and throat usually immaculate. Body mainly dark brown, the feathers with buffy borders. Wing patch purple, bordered in front and behind by black, the hind bar often with a very narrow white edge. Wing linings white. Feathers of sides of breast of male and female usually differ, the buffy markings U-shaped in male, V-shaped in female. Bill greenish yellow in male, more olive in female and often blotched with a dusky colour. Legs reddish, orange or greenish.
