-Lophodytes cucullatus (Linnaeus)
Adult male: Head and neck black with large triangle of white extending backward from behind eye and with narrow black border along nape. Back black becoming brownish on rump and tail. Two spurs of black reach down onto sides of the breast. Fore-wing grey. Speculum white, divided by black bar. Inner secondaries and tertials black striped with white. Sides and flanks reddish brown crossed by fine blackish lines. Breast and belly white. Eye yellow. Bill blackish. Legs and feet pale yellowish-brown.
