Adult male: Head and upper neck black glossed with green; conspicuous crest. Back, most of scapulars and tertials, black. Wing black and white. Rump, upper tail coverts and sides, grey finely crossed with wavy black lines. Breast pale cinnamon, streaked and mottled with black. Lower neck and abdomen white. Eye, legs and feet red. Bill red with dusky ridge.
