Woodpecker, Pileated (Local Rarety)
-Dryocopus pileatus (Linneaus)
By far our largest woodpecker. Patterned in broad masses of black and white and with a conspicuous bright-red pointed crest (not just a red bar across nape). Males have the whole forehead and a patch behind the base of the bill red also.
