Bill rather short, broad and flattened at base; tail rather long, its feathers somewhat tapered.
Adults: Brownish grey above and below, but under parts decidedly paler; eye-ring dull white; wings with tawny patch (partly hidden by wing coverts); outermost two or three feathers of tail tipped white, the outer margin of outermost feather white.
