Narrow band across forehead and back over eyes black; chin blackish passing into brown on throat; rest of head, neck, breast, and back cinnamon brown passing into grey on rump and blackish toward end of tail (which has a broad yellow tip); wings slaty grey, the secondaries with tiny red appendages like sealing wax (but sometimes lacking); abdomen, sides and flanks pale greenish-yellow; under tail coverts whitish.
