Soft brownish-grey generally, brownest (cinnamon) on head, greyish on rump and abdomen; narrow mask through eye and patch on throat black; secondaries with white tips to outer webs and with bright-red (rarely yellow) appendages like sealing wax, sometimes absent; primaries and primary coverts blackish, the coverts tipped white, the primaries with tips of yellow and/or white; tail becoming blackish near end and with broad yellow tip; under tail coverts chestnut.
