Murre, Thick-billed (Provincial Rarety)
-Uria lomvia (Linnaeus)
Similar to Common Murre, differing from it as follows: presence of a pale line along the cutting edge of the upper mandible near the gape and by a more acute-angled peak of white from the breast into the dark fore-neck. Adult in winter plumage and immature; back of crown extends down uniformly over the ear region. Although in all seasons the bill is thicker and shorter, this is often very difficult to discern and is not always as a reliable criterion in immature birds.
