Sparrow, Nelson's Sharp-tailed
-Ammodramus nelsoni (Gmelin)
Bill slender for a sparrow; tail rather short (shorter than folded wings), its feathers narrow and sharply pointed.
Adults: top of head with broad median stripe of brownish grey, this bordered on either side by a blackish-brown stripe; rest of upper parts olive grey, the back and scapulars conspicuously striped with blackish brown and a little white; sides of head rich buff with grey ear patch, a narrow blackish line back from the eye; no wing bars or tail patches; bend of wing yellow; under parts whitish but breast, sides and flanks buffy and streaked with dusky; bill bluish dusky; legs pale brownish.
