Somewhat similar to American Crow but much larger and with very much heavier bill; feathers of throat elongated and pointed; tail somewhat wedge-shaped. Adults (sexes similar) all black with purplish or violet lustre.
Young in juvenile plumage (worn only a short time after leaving nest).
Similar to adults but head and body dull brownish-black and feathers of throat not elongated or pointed.
