Kite, American Swallow-tailed (Provincial Rarety)
-Elanoides forficatus (Linnaeus)
Almost unmistakable. A medium-sized hawk, strikingly marked with contrasting black and white, with very long deeply forked tail (outer feathers project 23 cm beyond middle ones) and long pointed wings. Wings and tail solid black except mainly white tertials. Rest of plumage including head, shoulders and under parts white. Under wing coverts white, contrasting with black flight feathers.
