Dove, Mourning
-Zenaida macroura (Linnaeus)

Tail long, pointed when closed, the central feathers longest. Female similar to male but duller with shorter tail. Late summer and early autumn immatures are duller than adult females and lack the black spot under the ear; the feathers of fore-neck, scapulars and wing coverts have paler margins. The pointed tail distinguishes it from all other living Canadian doves and pigeons.
