Grouse, Ruffed (Local Rarety)
-Bonasa umbellus (Linnaeus)
Head slightly crested. Tail, many-barred and with broad subterminal band. Separable from other grouse by black or reddish-brown ruff and broad subterminal dark tail bar. Female smaller than male, with shorter ruffs and tail, and the tail band is usually incomplete across the two central tail feathers.
