Bill (2.5 to 3.5cm), straight but upper mandible slightly downcurved at tip. Inner web of outermost wing primary (often others also) with sawtooth-shaped markings, which distinguish it from our other shorebirds except the Whimbrel and the Long-billed Curlew (both larger birds with much longer, decidedly downcurved bills).
