-Tringa solitaria Wilson
Upper parts including rump very dark blackish-brown with slight green sheen, speckled in summer adults with white, in immatures with buffy white. Legs, dark olive-green. Heavy black-and-white barring of axillars distinguishes it from similar small sandpipers. Yellowlegs have finer and sparser barring on the axillars but are decidedly larger and have bright-yellow legs and whitish upper tail coverts.
