A large shorebird with almost straight or very slightly uptilted bill (5 to 5.8 cm); marked with grey, black, and white (in autumn, adults and immatures have the black replaced by grey), rump more whitish than rest of upper parts, and long bright-yellow legs. Distinguished from Lesser Yellowlegs by much larger size.
