-Limnodromus scolopaceus (Say)
Like Short-billed Dowitcher, but bill averages decidedly longer; in breeding plumage the cinnamon of the under parts consistently extends over belly and usually over under tail coverts; ventral spotting is dense and restricted to upper breast and throat; markings of sides of breast are well-formed bars rather that spots; light bars on tail tend to be narrower than in western races of the Short-billed Dowitcher but there is much overlapping. Autumn Long-bills usually have unspeckled grey upper breasts; Short-bills have slightly paler, finely speckled (or lightly spotted) upper breast but this is not always dependable.
