-Phalaropus tricolor (Vieillot)
Female larger and more brightly coloured than male. Bill very slender and awl-like, not obviously flattened, thus different from that of Red Phalarope. Front toes with very narrow lateral membranes and very small basal webs. Differs from other phalaropes in larger size, lack of a a white wing stripe, and absence of distinct scallops on the lateral membranes of the front toes.
