Phalarope, Red-necked
-Phalaropus lobatus (Linnaeus)
Female larger and in breeding plumage more brightly coloured than the male. A shorebird with lobed membranes along the sides of the front toes is a phalarope. White wing stripe separates it in all plumages from Wilson's Phalarope. Its very slender pointed bill distinguishes it from the Red Phalarope.
