Evening Programs

The stage is set for another fun-filled season of drama like you’ve never seen before! All programs are designed to be entertaining and educational for the whole family and go ahead rain or shine!

Eco Idol - Outdoor Theatre

Come vote for your favourite Eco Idol as they showcase their adaptations and talents to our judges! Each week the audience will pick Terra Nova's one and only Eco Idol!

Wild Wednesday - Outdoor Theatre

This July, Wild Wednesday will feature screenings of Wild Canada. Narrated by David Suzuki, this series showcases the wild life and wild lands that make this country spectacular! Each episode explores how humans have helped shape our landscapes and features amazing footage and facts highlighting ancient poeples and wildlife alike!

CSI Terra Nova - Outdoor Theatre

Terra Nova's finest crime scene investigators have been called in to investigate a case of forest descruction! Come watch as they collect evidence, interrogate suspects and get to the root of the problem

Family Movie Night - Outdoor Theatre

Join us under the stars at the outdoor theatre to take in a show on the big screen! Sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy this truly unique venue. Featuring a variety of movies shown on the front page. Snacks can be purchased from the Heritage Foundation on site at the theatre. Popcorn: $2, Pop: 1.25. Cash only.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Outdoor Theatre

Join us for this fun filled game show that will test your knowledge of all things Terr Nova! Enter your name - you could have the chance to join us on stage and comete for a prize! Children must be accompanied by adults while onstage.

ThrowBack Thursday Movie Night - Outdoor Theatre

Dude, like totally the most gnarly movie night EVER! ThrowBack Thursday features favourite movies from the 80's, 90's and 2000's. Snacks can be purchased from the Heritage Foundation on site at the theatre. Popcorn: $2, Pop: 1.25. Cash only.

Junior Naturalist Program

Kids, are you looking for a fun and exciting club to join this summer? Come alon gto any of our Junior Naturalist programs and you'll get your Junior Naturalist Club card. Collect stamps and recieve a prize!

Art in the Park

Be a part of this new artistic adventure. Participants will take to the park and explore the natural landscape through the eyes of an artist. Create works of art ranging from sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.

Beach Art - Sandy Pond

Take a break from your day at the beach to help one of our interpreters create artin the sand with objects found in nature. Each week we will explore a new theme! 

Guided Walks

All of our hikes are designed for families and go ahead rain or shine. We encourage participants to wear appropriate footwear, outdoor wear and to bring along water and a snack. Below is a description of the guided hikes offered this summer.

Mi'kmaq A'tukwaqn - Headquarters Wharf

Experience Nature in the context of the Mi'kmaq traditional way of life. Join an aboriginal interpreter on a guided walk and share stories about edible and medicinal plants and the aboriginal history of Newfoundland

Trail Tales - Visitor Centre

This forest has a story to tell. Join our interpreters as they share with you the secrets of Terra Nova's forest, and the unique plants and creatures that call it home!

Stories from the Sound - Visitor Centre

Join our interpreters as they take you for a hike around the Heritage Trail and meet characters from Terra Nova's past. Listen to them share their stories and watch as they show you their way of life.

Beaver Hike - Newman Sound Kiosk

The beavers are back! Explore the life of Terra Nova's largest rodent and discover how they  have helped shape our lives and our land.

Special Events

Chocolate Adventure ($)- August 2nd-3rd

Chocolate lovers- this is the event for you! Join the Newfoundland Chocolate Company for a one hour workshop as they guide you through the chocolate making process and teach you how to make their signature tasty treats! Register in advance with Newfoundland Chocolate Company 579-0099. Cost: $10 per participant and includes a souvenir chocolate bar. Book early- space is limited!

Kids Day - August 3rd

Celebrate Kids Day in Terra Nova National Park Join us for games, face painting, treats and prizes at the Activity Centre. The fun doesn’t end here-come pick up your loot bag and enjoy a Campfire Concert at 8:30pm! This event is hosted by the Heritage Foundation for Terra Nova National Park.

Masterless Men Concert - August 9th

The Heritage Foundation for Terra Nova National Park presents the Concert in the Park featuring the Masterless Men. The concert starts 9 PM at the Outdoor Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at the Gift Shoppe at the Visitor Centre or call 709.533.3145. Tickets Prices: Early Bird $15 At the Door $20. Seating is limited so get your ticket early!

Artist Demo - Tuesdays in August

Join local artist Christine Pike at the Visitor Centre as she shares the secrets of creating her works of art. These demonstrations will cover techniques including linocut print making and Gyotaku fish printing.

Heritage Folk Festival- August 15-16

Join us for the Heritage Foundation’s 30th Annual Folk Festival at the Outdoor Theatre in Newman Sound. Drop by Friday evening for a special performance of the Clayton Show and stay for an evening of music. Saturday evening we will host a number of performers - some old favorites and some new! Admission: Adult/Youth $6 (13 years and up); Children $4 (6-12 years; 5 & under are free).

Special Programs

Discovery Dome - Various Locations

Drop in and check out the Discovery Dome. At this mobile interpretation station, interpreters will help you explore all things Terra Nova. You'll be amazed how much fun can be acked into one place!

Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Acivity Centre

Meet at the Activity Centre and get ready to head out and explore the park through a new lens! Learn the basics of composing a photo and experience new ways to maximize how you record your memories of the park! Bring your own camera or borrow one from our supply.

Estuary Exploration ($) - Visitor Centre

Get wet while staying dry! Join the Coastal Connections team to explore waters teeming with timy plants and animals. Using looking glasses, everyone will see the underwater as clear as a fish! Terntal waders included! Cost: $5 per participant. Register at the Visitor Centre desk. Maximum 12 participants.

Squid Diggin' ($) - Visitor Centre

Get up close and personal with our favourite Cephalopd, the squid! The crew from Coastal Connections willl guide you through a squid dissection. Go from suction cup to ink and everywhere in between! Cost: $5 per participant. Register at the Visitor Centre desk. Maximum 12 participants.
