Spruce Buds
Parents and preschoolers are invited to join us for an hour of discovery and fun. Each week children will have the opportunity to interact with other children, in a fun and educational environment.

Junior Naturalis Program
Kids, are you looking for a fun and exciting club to join this summer? Then join the Junior Naturalist Club today! Just come along to any of the daily children's programs.  At the end of the program (45 minutes-1 hour) you'll get your own Junior Naturalist Club card, which will be stamped after every program you attend.  Collect prizes and become an official Junior Naturalist today!

Guided Walks

All of our hikes are designed for families and go ahead rain or shine. We encourage participants to wear appropriate footwear, outdoor wear and to bring along water and a snack. Below is a description of the guided hikes offered this summer in the park:

A Taste of Nature

Take a trip through time as you explore traditional plant use and peoples of the past. Bring along your appetite - we'll sample plants, leaves, berries and more!
Saturdays, 3pm at Headquarters Wharf

Beaver Walk

Explore the life of Terra Nova's largest rodent! Keep your eyes open – you may catch a glimpse of one these famous Canadian Idols.
Mondays, 7pm at Newman Sound Campground Kiosk

Mi’kmaq A’tukwaqn

Experience nature from the Mi’kmaq traditional way of life. Join an aboriginal interpreter on a guided walk and share stories about edible and medicinal plants and the aboriginal history of Newfoundland.
Thursdays, 3pm at Headquarters Wharf

Between the Bark

Join a park ecologist & park interpreter each Tuesday and see for yourself the effects moose are having on Terra Nova National Park’s boreal forest. Along the way, learn about the cultural history of the area.
Tuesdays, 1pm at the Visitor Centre
Cost: $10.80 adult & $7.30 youth.

Program Schedule:

  • 1:00pm meet at the Visitor Centre and depart for Minchin Cove aboard the M.V. Coastal Explorer;
  • Hike from Minchin Cove to South Broad Cove (approx. 2km);
  • Lunch provided at South Broad Cove;
  • Board the M.V. Coastal Explorer in South Broad Cove and depart for the Visitor Centre. Arrive back at the Visitor Centre approximately 4:00pm.

    * Space is limited to 10 people. Book early at the Visitor Centre. Dress appropriately for the weather and wet walking conditions.

    Evening Programs

    The stage is set for another fun-filled season of drama like you're never seen before! All programs are designed to be entertaining and educational for the whole family and go ahead rain or shine! Below is a description of the programs offered this summer in the park:

    Campfire Concert

    This campfire program will give you a taste of the culture of Newfoundland from yesteryear to today! Bring a mug for free hot chocolate! Saturdays, 8pm at the Campfire Circle

    Campfire Singalong

    Gather around the flame for a cozy singalong of old campfire favorites. Bring a mug for free hot chocolate!
    Wednesdays, 8pm at Malady Head

    Go With the Flo’

    When Florence the salmon begins her first journey back upstream to spawn, nothing can stand in her way....or can it?  Find out the answer in this fun filled watery musical adventure.
    Thursdays, 9pm at the Outdoor Theatre

    Forest Idol

    Come vote for your favourite Forest Idol as they showcase their adaptations and talents to our judges! Each week, you the audience, will pick Terra Nova’s one and only Forest Idol!
    Fridays, 9pm at the Outdoor Theatre

    Game Show

    This game show is guaranteed to leave you learning, laughing and loving the great outdoors. Be a contestant on the show by entering your family or group (adult accompaniment required on stage) at the theatre before the show starts.

    Aboriginal Awareness

    Drop by the Visitor Centre to learn about the peaceful history of the Aboriginal people of Newfoundland. Each week will feature a different aspect of Aboriginal Culture.
    Sundays, 3pm at the Visitor Centre

    Art in the Park

    Art in the Park - Be a part of this new artistic adventure. Participants will take to the park and explore the natural landscape through the eyes of an artist. Create works of art ranging from sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.
