Art In The Park

Seeing the Gros Morne Work

Parks Canada has incorporated a multi-purpose space into the Discovery Centre at Woody Point, where the Rooms Provincial Art Gallery will mount summer exhibitions drawn from works produced through the residency program. The beautiful backdrop of Bonne Bay and the Tablelands makes for an ideal accompaniment to the gallery space.

The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery also, from time to time, may organise a group exhibition of such work for provincial/national tour.

The impact of the program has been quite remarkable. Artworks from the Gros Morne residencies have been the subject of over two dozen exhibitions in public and commercial galleries; they have also been acquired for public collections. Two artists have collaborated with Newfoundland author Kevin Major on a limited edition artists' book, Gros Morne Time Lines.

Read what these professional, visual artists say about their Gros Morne experience and view samples of their work. The CBC Artspots feature will also link you to the Rooms Provincial Art Gallery, partners in the residency.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation developed Artspots to celebrate Canada's vibrant art scene. The Web site is an accompaniment to the network's video profiles of Canadian artists that air during regular programming.
