Salt Marsh

Hiking Interpretive Panel Bench Distance: 0.7 km
Time: 15 - 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy, flat terrain

Interpretive panels along the salt marsh trail briefly explain the dynamics of this habitat and the various plant zones that it comprises. Most of the plants found in the marsh are halophilic, meaning they are salt-tolerant. This tolerance varies according to the range of the tides in the neighbouring lagoons.

Half-way along the trail, visitors will come upon lagoons and dunes that stretch to the horizon. Although the hike does not take long, visitors should remember to bring their insect repellent, because mosquitoes are abundant in the salt marsh.
