Fundy National Park of Canada
Interpretation Programs — Fall 2013 Schedule
September 12 - October 13
The Sky Tonight (8:30 pm / Chignecto South)
Come explore the night sky with us! Fundy National Park has some of the darkest and star-filled skies around. This amazing view is now protected by our status as a dark-sky preserve. You may be able to glimpse Saturn's rings, view nebulae and star clusters light-years away and experience star-hopping through the Milky Way, all with the aid of our giant, 30 cm diameter, motor-tracking telescope (90 min)
Of Dragons, Frogs and a Feathered Friends Fanatic (1 pm - 3 pm / Caribou Plain)
Come find our roving interpreter Denis along the Caribou Plains trail. Denis will be taking a closer look at dragonflies, frogs and salamanders or listening in on the birds. Stop by and ask him about these fascinating Fundy inhabitants. He's crazy about them!
Molly Kool Kitchen Party (8 pm / Molly Kool Heritage Centre)
You are invited to a family friendly kitchen party in the late 1930's. Fiddling, shanties, local gossip, and refreshments. Join us at the Molly Kool Heritage Centre located in the Alma Beach parking lot. Bring a mug.
Dickson Falls Discovery Exhibit (1 pm - 3 pm / Dickson Falls Trail)
While walking along the Dickson Falls trail, be on the look out for an interpreter with many Fundy stories to share. Something new and exciting each week.
Fundy Fungi Foray (September 21st, 1 - 3 pm)
Join New Brunswick Museum Curator Stephen Clayden, Chef Marc Casey from the Tides Restaurant and Fundy National Park Interpreters for an interactive introduction to the Fungi of new Brunswick's Fundy Coast region.
Participants will discover mushroom and fungal diversity, learn about identification techniques, and forest ecology. The NBM and Fundy Park staff will be stationed along the trail, and participants can meet and interact with them at any time during the two hour event. Special guest Chef Marc Casey from The Tides Restaurant at Parkland Inn in Alma will also be on the trail to provide complimentary samples of local mushrooms recipes. The starting point is the Dickson Falls trailhead in Fundy National Park. The Fungi Forayis in conjunction with a Survey of Fungal Diversity led by the NBM where over twenty experienced scientists and other researchers from Canada and the United States will be conducting four days of intensive field work (September 23–26, 2013) in Fundy National Park.
