Although spring may take a little longer to arrive in this northern region, it is well worth the wait!

Despite the long, harsh winters, a few hardy bird species remain in Wapusk National Park and the surrounding area year round. As the days get longer and the temperatures rise, the frozen landscape transforms into multiple ponds, creeks and rivers. Slowly, the tundra comes alive with sound and colour. This greatly anticipated time of year brings with it hundreds of species of migrating and breeding birds.
