Wildlife Viewing

Wildlife tend to feed and travel in valley bottoms in the winter so you may be treated to a lucky sighting on your drive. Watch for elk, moose, coyotes and wolves. Pull well off the highway if you stop to view wildlife, and observe them from the safety of your vehicle. Winter is an especially difficult time of year for animals; they must conserve critical energy. Please remember, it is illegal to approach, feed or harass wildlife in a national park. Be alert for wildlife on the road, particularly at night.

If you see animals, warn oncoming vehicles by turning on your hazard lights.
