NOTE: A park use permit must be displayed in your vehicle when stopped in the Long Beach unit of the park.
(Long Beach Parking Lot only. Four hour maximum.)

Broken Group Islands (BGI)

Services and facilities in the Broken Group Islands (BGI) are limited. This is a backcountry area and visitors must be self-sufficient.

  • located on floats in a bay adjacent to Nettle Island
  • due north of the Gibraltar Island campsite
  • does not maintain regular hours as park staff are often out on patrol

  • on 20 foot rigid-hull inflatable boats or a smaller 14 foot inflatable boat
  • provide information, emergency assistance, law enforcement, search & rescue

West Coast Trail (WCT)

A limited number of facilities are offered along the West Coast Trail (WCT). If you are planning on hiking the entire WCT, be prepared for 6-8 days in the backcountry. Facilities on the trail include boardwalk, ladders, bridges, cable cars and outhouses at the most commonly used camping areas. There are no huts for hikers on the WCT.

Services in the neighbouring communities

Bamfield, Port Renfrew and Nitinat Lake can provide basic services, including accommodation, camping, phones, fuel, groceries and tours. There are no banks in these communities so cash and change can be difficult to obtain.
